MOSCOW, May 5 (PRIME) -- Russian antivirus maker Dr.Web has detected a malicious program distributed in social network VKontakte under the guise of free antivirus keys, the company said on Friday in a statement.
“The Dr.Web official group in the VKontakte social network has recently seen messages from anonymous users with an offer to download free licensed keys for the Dr.Web antivirus. As a rule, such messages contain a short link to the RGhost file holding. If you follow the link, a potential victim is offered to download a RAR-archived file of 26 kilobytes,” the company said.
The Trojan virus connects to its managing server and sends information about the infected computer, including the presence of a Web camera.
The virus can perform a number of commands of hackers, such as switching the computer on or off or displaying a message on the screen.
